We woke up on Saturday to a beautiful sunny morning with the sound of roosters crowing and a delicious breakfast waiting for us. We inventoried the medicines that we brought from the US and got ready for our first clinic.
Our first clinic was at a primary school Escuelo Basico Fransisco Sergio. We split the team to handle different functions, all supported by a few local translators. Ed S. and Ed J. setup our pharmacy. The rest of the volunteers organized the patients as well as obtained vital signs and chief complaints. The doctors and nurse practitioners were able to treat more than 80 people ranging in age between 2 and 82.
We ended our day with Mass at the local parish of St Francis of Assisi followed by good food and fellowship.
Follow all of our volunteers through their week of clinics in the Dominican Republic.
